What does it mean to be coherent?
In its simplest definition, coherence means “to stick together,” to be logically or energetically unified. But in the realm of somatic practice, healing arts, and transformational movement, coherence is far more than just internal consistency. It is a felt experience and a deep resonance between mind, heart, body, and soul. It’s when our thoughts, emotions, sensations, and actions begin to move in synchrony, creating an unmistakable sense of rightness, wholeness, and truth.
Incoherence, on the other hand, is something we all know well. It’s the tug-of-war between what we know and what we feel. It’s when our mind races ahead but our body drags behind. It’s when we say “yes” but mean “no.” It’s the fragmentation that occurs when we override our intuition, silence our emotional truth, or disconnect from the body’s signals.
Ecstatic Flow is a practice that invites us back into coherence, through presence and permission. We move to remember. We spiral, stretch, shake, sway, and sound ourselves into a state where what we think aligns with what we feel, and what we do flows from who we truly are.
Why Coherence Matters
In a world that fragments us, into roles, screens and survival, coherence is radical. When we are coherent, we become trustworthy to ourselves. The body softens, the breath deepens, decisions become clear. Coherence is not about being “together” all the time but rather about returning to alignment again and again.
Energetically, coherence strengthens the field around us. It’s when the chakras come into attunement, when the nervous system settles, and when our presence speaks louder than our words. In group settings, coherence is contagious. One person in resonance can ripple calm through the room.
Practicing Coherence in Ecstatic Flow
In Ecstatic Flow, coherence is both the container and the fruit of the practice. The structure is built around breath, intuitive movement, chakra activation, and somatic tools. It gives just enough scaffolding for inner harmony to re-emerge. Here’s how we practice it:
- Movement: By following impulse rather than imposition, we allow the body to express what’s real, clearing static and restoring internal clarity.
- Breath: Conscious breathing bridges the subtle and the physical, helping us land in the now.
- Sound & Voice: Vocal expression brings what’s inside into vibration, dissolving blocks and restoring inner congruence.
- Touch: Hands-on connection, self-touch or partner-assisted, invites integration across somatic layers.
- Mantra & Energy Work: The vibrational architecture of mantra can entrain our systems toward higher-order coherence ..aligning us with archetypal forces of truth, power, and love.
Living in Coherence
When we live in coherence, we become clear channels. We are more intuitive, more magnetic, more alive. We stop leaking energy into inner conflict and start radiating from a place of embodied truth. From this place, healing becomes natural and creation becomes effortless.
